The 26th Annual Harford County Farm Fair was held on Thursday, July 25 through Sunday, July 28, 2013. Since the first Harford County Farm Fair in 1988, this annual event has been held at the Harford County Equestrian Center, which is publicly owned by the Harford County Government and is part of the Heavenly Waters Park administered by the County Department of Parks and Recreation and the volunteer Equestrian Center Recreation Council.

The mission of the Harford County Farm Fair is to promote Harford County’s agricultural heritage and encourage youth involvement in agricultural activities, particularly through the 4-H, FFA, and Ag Magnet Program in Harford County Public Schools.  We provide educational displays showing how agriculture is a part of our daily lives and on conservation of natural resources.

The 2013 Farm Fair hit the ground running with the 3rd Annual Farm Fair 5K Run on Sunday morning, July 21. This event begins and ends at the fairgrounds.

On Thursday, July 25, 2013, the Farm Fair began with the Prayer Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. and ended the day with a spectacular fireworks display at 9:15 p.m. From opening on Thursday morning until closing on Sunday evening, the Farm Fair offered something for everyone to enjoy! For the first time, there was be carnival rides during the fair. Kidway offered a myriad of games, entertainment, and activities for children, including a Straw Maze, the Moon Bounce, and Pig Races. There was an Antique Tractor Pull on Thursday evening, and the Lucas Oil Truck and Tractor Pulls on both Friday and Saturday evening. Live from the Showmobile stage was a variety of local bands and singing groups. Next to the Showmobile was Sand Sculptures by Ocean City artist Randy Hofman.

The Farm Fair allowed local residents to exhibit their home-grown vegetables and agricultural products, baked goods, crafts and needlework, photographs and artwork. We provided the opportunity for all ages to compete in pie and watermelon eating and a Spelling Bee. There werecontests for Farm Babies and for Miss Harford County Farm Bureau. The 2nd Annual Farm Fair Talent Contest was held on Friday, July 26, 2013 and Saturday, July 27, 2013. On Sunday, July 28, 2013 there was the “Fresh Baked” Peach Pie Contest and the Seasonal Sensations Culinary Competition. There are many ways for Harford Countians to share their skills and talents!

The Harford County Farm Fair Board of Directors thanks the many, many volunteers, corporate sponsors, participating vendors, and especially Harford County Government for their enthusiastic support and encouragement over the years. It is because of our volunteers and sponsors that we are able to continue to provide such a successful and family-oriented community event.

We are excited for you to celebrate with us the outstanding achievements of the agricultural community at the 27th Annual Harford County Farm Fair. More information will be posted shortly.
